1. Lines & Veils β€” safety cards1. Our safety promises

Lines are hard boundaries: topics that never appear in your game, no exceptions. Veils are fade-to-black topics: they can exist in the story, but the camera cuts away β€” no describing them in detail. Anyone can add a line or a veil, no questions asked, no debate. The DM's only job is to respect them. Some story parts can feel scary or sad. Lines are things that never, ever happen in our story. Veils are things we skip over quickly β€” like when a movie cuts to the next scene. You can always add a new line or veil, and nobody will ask why. The storyteller (DM) promises to honor them.

πŸ›‘ LinesπŸ›‘ Never-ever lines

Never included, not even implied. The topic simply does not exist in this campaign. These things never happen in our story. Not even a little bit.

🌫 Veils🌫 Skip-it veils

May happen off-screen, but we never describe it. "You sneak past the battle β€” and wake up safe." Fade to black. These things might happen off-screen, but we never talk about the details. We just skip to the next fun part!

βœ‹ The pause signalβœ‹ The pause hand

Agree on a signal anyone can use mid-game β€” a raised hand, or saying "pause" β€” that stops the scene immediately, no questions asked. The group checks in, adjusts, and moves on.Pick a signal anyone can use during the game β€” like raising your hand or saying "pause!" The story stops right away.
